Had it not been for the two lovely girls I met in Frendz Resort, Boracay, I may never have known about Puka Beach. I am SO glad they invited me to come along for the ride, because it really exceeded my expectations!
White Beach in Boracay was already very impressive. It’s the beach you see in all the postcards the Philippines- an impressive stretch of white sand with palm trees, turquoise blue water and sailboats. It’s a magical place and the sunsets here are amazing, but it’s also highly developed for tourists so the beach is lined with bars and restaurants, which can be a little distracting.
So when I was invited to go along to Puka Beach by my new friends, I was curious to see what it would be like. Since there aren’t really any shops or restaurants at Puka Beach, we purchased some fruit and avocados in the outdoor market near White Beach, before hopping in a trishaw to take us to the best beach on the island.
All I could say was ‘WOW’! Puka really was paradise and definitely gave Koh Rong Samloem in Cambodia a run for its money. The water was so beautiful and clear, the beach was spotless and there were hardly any people on it! At one point it was just us and some Filipino ladies selling jewellery made out of shells from the beach. We drank coconuts, we swam in the ocean, we fell asleep on the beach, and we chatted about how we felt like we were in an episode of Shipwrecked. I hadn’t felt so relaxed in a long time.
Here is some evidence of why Puka Beach is the best beach in Boracay:
