Unique Luxury Experiences in Scandinavia

Scandinavia is a group of countries located in the northern part of Europe. Travellers can often overlook Finland, Norway, and Sweden because they think there’s nothing more than snow and ice up there. Though that’s true in the winter, the summer months are just as hot as most of the rest of Europe. And, anyway, what’s wrong with a little winter getaway?

Arctic Igloo Get Away

Starting with Finland, you can stay in a giant igloo after you finish exploring the Arctic. The Arctic Fox Igloos are located near Ranua in the Finnish Laplands. You are so close to the Arctic Circle that a short walk will give you a cool story to tell your friends.

You’re probably thinking of the traditional igloo, but these are snug, warm and made of glass. You will fall asleep under the stars and see the Northern Lights in all its glory. In the morning, you can take a dip in the sauna and spend the rest of the day snowmobiling or kayaking.

Casino Helsinki or Grand Casino Helsinki

This beautiful luxury casino in Finland capital has over 28,000 square feet of space dedicated to housing over 20 tables games, 300 slot machines, and seven poker tables. American roulette, Russian poker, Omaha and seven-card stud are all available here. If you can’t make it to the brick and mortar casino, you can play online with Casumo Kasino Finland.

If gambling isn’t your thing, you can also check out their awesome shows with tributes that have featured David Bowie, Abba, Bon Jovie and Amy Winehouse.

Foodie Tour

Denmark is the culinary capital of Scandinavia. There are 17 Michelin-star restaurants located in Copenhagen, but we wouldn’t recommend stopping there. With the ever-evolving Nordic cuisine, going year after year would be a different experience every time.

There are multiple different food tours, with an option that gets you a night at an eco-friendly hotel that includes a wine dinner for two. Cooking courses are also available from top chefs, plus workshops, picnics, and foraging sessions.

Norway’s Fjords

You can’t just go to Norway and not check out the famous fjords. Did you know there are over a thousand of them? It’s best to start early, grab your backpack, and hike up to the mountainscapes and see the sunrise.

Tours are available if you don’t want to take the journey yourself. Take the trip by boat, or by train, but we recommend a train for a more luxurious experience. But, if you’re really brave, you could take a motorcycle around the twisting winding roads.

Stay in a Tree House

If you’re ever in Sweden and you’re looking for a place to stay, try out the luxury treehouse hotel. Although treehouses don’t usually equal luxury, these treehouses are custom designed to suspend high in pine trees that overlook the glorious Lule river.

No tree house is a like, with notable mentions being a mirrored box, and a UFO ship. It isn’t cheap to stay here either, as each room is furnished with high-end Scandinavian furniture. They don’t skimp on the rest of the accommodations either. You’ll get to eat at a top-of-the-line restaurant and soak in a sauna whenever you’d like.

Sailing in Style

The Stockholm Archipelago has over 30,000 islands that can be explored with a rinky-dinky boat. But if you can, why not do it in a yacht? If you want something more adventurous, taking a sailboat maybe for you, though.

The island’s scenery, coupled with the wildlife located on the islands is one of the biggest pulls to taking the trip. You’re also allowed to swim wild; just make sure you’re a strong swimmer to handle the tides. Once you’re all tuckered out, you can take out your lunch and have a nice picnic.
