Planning your 2020 travels? Hit up these amazing destinations in India!

Few (if any) capture the imagination of travellers like India does. It has the highest mountains on Earth and some of its most beautiful beaches. Its history dates back to the dawn of human civilisation. And, every day, you’re virtually guaranteed to see something that you’ll remember for the rest of your days.

There is a reason, however, why India is also known as the Indian Subcontinent. This nation is enormous – it can be hard, if not impossible, to hit all of its highlights at once. Thanks to cheap airline tickets, though, it is possible to see a portion of them.

Where should you go? That depends a great deal on what your preferences are. In today’s blog, we’ll profile India’s top destinations. That way, you’ll be able to make the most of your first visit to this intriguing country.

The Himalayas contain the highest peaks on the planet. Consequently, they draw mountaineers, trekkers, and scenery buffs from around the world.

Sadly, clouds often obscure the view in spots like Darjeeling. This rarely happens in Leh, an arid mountain town in Northern India. Yes, it is nowhere near Mount Everest. However, you’ll have unencumbered views of peaks as high as 19,600 feet.

Needless to say, you’ll have plenty of trekking opportunities. Seasoned whitewater rafters will love Leh as well, as up to Class V rapids beckon.

India is a hotbed of cultural attractions, but none are as layered as the city of Varanasi. This Hindu holy city is of paramount importance to devotees. Every day, the dying are brought here. When they expire, they are burnt on funeral pyres, and their ashes are spread into the Ganges River.

Apart from attending cremations, merely walking around Varanasi’s narrow alleys will give to plenty to see. Take plenty of pictures, but ensure you are respectful – always ask permission to take people’s photographs.

After a chaotic visit to Varanasi, you deserve a rest. Book a flight with Airindia airlines down to Goa. This Indian state is home to some of India’s most relaxing beaches.

However, there is more to this destination than sand and surf. As a former Portuguese colony, Goa has a wealth of old churches. Most can be found in Old Goa, with the oldest of the structures dating back to the 16trh century.

If the tourist scene in Goa bothers you, we suggest holidaying in Kerala instead. Located much further south, this state is best known for its backwaters.

Here, travellers can rent boats that will take them along these channels. As you soak up the sun on its deck, you’ll get to watch as locals go about their daily business.

After a multi-day excursion on the Backwaters of Kerala, head for the hills near Munnar. This hill station is at the epicentre of this state’s tea industry. Learn how workers harvest this crop and transform it into your favourite morning drink.

Last but not least, don’t leave India without a side trip to Agra. This Indian destination is known the world over for the Taj Mahal. Built as a mausoleum for the wife of Shah Jahan, a 17th-century Mughal emperor, its scale will humble you.

If you have time afterwards, check out Agra’s other tombs, as well as the impressive Agra Fort.

A World Of Experiences Await You In India

We’ve barely scratched the surface with this list of top Indian attractions. Nonetheless, we’re confident visiting any of these destinations will make your first trip to India a memorable one.
